- Before being cast as Lucia Sciarra, Bellucci was considered for the role of Paris Carver in Tomorrow Never Dies, although the role went to Teri Hatcher, who was considered to be a bigger box office draw.
- Bellucci had also been considered for the role of Elektra King, and did a screen test with Colin Salmon, who was standing in for Pierce Brosnan, as they performed the scene where King tortures James Bond in the Antique Torture Chair. However, the role eventually went to Sophie Marceau.
